Undertake a spectacular 100m abseil and dry caving adventure in a Glow-worm Cave and exhilarate on an epic 5* Grade white water rafting experience.

Day 1: Auckland Arrival

Imagine an urban environment where everyone lives within half an hour of beautiful beaches, hiking trails and a dozen enchanting holiday islands. Add a sunny climate, a background rhythm of Polynesian culture and a passion for outstanding food, wine and shopping, and you’re beginning to get the picture of Auckland, our largest and most diverse city.

There aren’t too many bridges in the world you’re allowed to climb to the top of without getting put in handcuffs. Scaling the Auckland Harbour Bridge is rewarding, educational and something a bit different. 

Experience stunning 360-degree views across Auckland's city skyline, the sparkling Waitemata Harbour and beyond. Up 192 meters above street level, you can walk the rim of New Zealand's tallest building. With a narrow walkway and no handrails, Skywalk is the ultimate Auckland sightseeing experience.The Sky Jump is New Zealand's highest jump and only Base Jump by wire. You'll plummet 192 metres off the Sky Tower at 85 km an hour!  Complete your adventure with a glass of New Zealand produced sparkling wine and a flavoured 3-course lunch. Created for you by one of New Zealand's most famous chefs Peter Gordon.

Day 2: Auckland – Waitomo - Matamata

Travel south through the lush green rural farmland of the Waikato region. The rich and fertile pastoral land of the Waikato is one of New Zealand’s major dairy producing and horse breeding areas, and host to incalculable stands of exotic timber. One of the major attractions of the region is the famous Waitomo Caves. It is renowned for its underground adventure.   

You have the option to undertake a spectacular 100m abseil and dry caving adventure or alternatively try Waitomo’s most intense action adventure where you'll encounter abseils (often in waterfalls), rock climbs, unique limestone formations and get up close to glow-worms while exploring this fantastic cave system.  

From Waitomo we drive further inland to Matamata. Famous for dairying and fine thoroughbred horses, it's easy to see why these green pastures and rolling hills were chosen to portray Hobbiton and The Shire.  In the evening experience, the Hobbiton Movie Set as you have never seen it before with a guided tour through The Shire at dusk. You will be treated to a banquet in the Green Dragon and sample traditional Hobbit fayre!

Day 3: Waitomo - Lake Taupo

The Waikato River, New Zealand's longest river, moves gracefully north from Lake Taupo between banks 100 metres apart. Take an exhilarating jet boat trip full of thrills, fun and excitement along a beautiful river environment, lined with native bush, sheer rock cliff face and hot water streams. From your unique vantage point on the jet boat, you will have the best water level view of Huka Falls.  

Followed by a helicopter flight of a lifetime down the east side of the great lake and then into the Kaimanawa Ranges where you can choose a landing at either an amazing alpine tussock top or the crystal gear waters of a backcountry stream. After lunch you get back in the helicopter for your flight home.  

Accompanied by an expert Tandem Skydive Instructor, you’ll jump out of our aircraft from up to 15,000ft and into an incredible freefall over the world’s most scenic dropzone. Experience stunning views of snow-tipped peaks and the clear, fresh blue water of Lake Taupo.  

Lake Taupo, the largest Lake in this country and also the world’s largest volcanic crater, created in one giant explosion nearly two thousand years ago, it darkened the skies in Europe and China. 

ALTERNATIVE: You have the option of travelling to Coromandel. The Coromandel is everything that a big city isn’t. With a mountainous interior cloaked in the native rainforest and more than 400 kilometres of dazzling white sand beaches, it is rustic, unspoiled and relaxed.

Try a canyoning trip through some of the most beautiful landscapes New Zealand has to offer. The Sleeping God canyon tour is a vertical descent of over three hundred metres down a steep set of waterfalls involving abseils/rappels of up to 80 metres, exhilarating water slides and jumps as high as 14 metres into deep dark pools.

Day 4: Lake Taupo - Rotorua

Rotorua is known for bubbling mud pools, shooting geysers and natural hot springs, as well as showcasing our fascinating Maori culture. Sitting within the Pacific Rim of Fire, Rotorua is a geothermal wonderland.  

For a little more adventure and If you want to travel deep into the heart of New Zealand, join a rafting trip across grades 3 to 5 including almighty water drops and rushing rapids. There are a number of rafting expeditions to suit your level of adventure. 

If you want to see New Zealand like never before and experience an ancient forest up close and personal then this Eco Zipline canopy tour is for you!  There are over 200m of thrilling zip lines, swing bridges and treetop platforms all within an expansive forest network of towering ancient trees. 

In the evening immerse yourself in Maori culture by visiting Te Puia Arts and Crafts Centre and enjoy a private guided tour of the park.  You will taste an exquisite Maori feast prepared in the traditional Hangi style and watch the Maori cultural performance featuring traditional storytelling and entertainment.

Day 5: Rotorua - Bay of Plenty - Auckland

The Bay of Plenty region is home to spectacular beaches, juicy kiwifruit and New Zealand's only active marine volcano. Tauranga is the largest city in the Bay of Plenty and one of the fastest growing population centres in the country. 

At the very tip of the peninsula is a distinctive peak Mount Maunganui, Mauao - which rises to 230 metres above sea level. There's a choice of tracks leading to the summit, some more challenging than others. Huge views of the harbour, beach and Pacific Ocean make the effort totally worthwhile.

OR: you can take a kayak adventure and paddle around this ancient volcano is a great way to unwind and enjoy yourself. You also have a chance to encounter a variety of wildlife which includes dolphin, orca, penguins, and seals so make sure you bring your camera and be prepared to snap away. 

The Wairere Falls track takes walkers through a beautiful, diverse range of natural scenery. Besides the spectacular 153 m high falls there is beautiful river falls and cascades, a fine grove of nīkau, pūriri and kohekohe, and an upper section of the track takes you through tree ferns and totara in native forest.
