'Women Of Impact' Gala Fundraiser for Kura Kai, Caring For Our Community

We believe in the importance of giving back and supporting the communities that make our beautiful country unique. Our involvement in this year's charity auction for Kura Kai reflects our ongoing commitment to making a positive impact. As part of our contribution, we offer an exclusive luxury weekend getaway as one of the auction prizes. By participating in this event, we aim to help raise critical funds for Kura Kai, enabling them to continue their invaluable work supporting youth and families across New Zealand.

We are passionate about supporting initiatives that uplift our communities. We are proud to join forces with She Is Unleashed and other like-minded organisations to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it most. Through our involvement, we hope to inspire others to engage in acts of kindness and contribute to the greater good.

Participation in Fundraisers for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation

Our company recognises the significance of supporting charitable causes and organisations that work towards improving the lives of those in need. Therefore, we actively participate in fundraisers, including our involvement with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. We donated a tour package that was auctioned during the fundraiser event. The funds raised from the auction are allocated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, enabling them to continue their vital work in research, advocacy, and support for individuals and families affected by cystic fibrosis. By contributing to this cause, we demonstrate our commitment to social responsibility and making a positive impact on the lives of others.

Adoption of a kākāpō for Recovery and Protection

Aroha Luxury New Zealand Tours acknowledges the importance of preserving and protecting New Zealand's unique and endangered species. In line with this commitment, we have adopted a kākāpō as a symbol for kākāpō recovery and protection efforts. Kākāpō, the world's heaviest and critically endangered parrot, faces numerous challenges, including habitat loss and predation. Our support helps fund initiatives focused on predator control, habitat restoration, and breeding programs, ensuring a brighter future for the kākāpō population in Aotearoa. We take great pride in our adoption of a kākāpō as part of our commitment to kākāpō recovery and protection. We believe that our support, combined with the efforts of conservation organisations and dedicated individuals, will lead to a brighter future for the kākāpō population in Aotearoa. Through our actions, we aim to inspire others to recognise the importance of preserving and protecting New Zealand's unique biodiversity and to contribute actively to conservation efforts. As part of the tourism industry, we must operate in accordance with kaitikitanga, and we believe this is just one of many ways we can contribute to enhancing Aotearoa's natural ecosystem.

Hunt for Good - Tokoroa

Our Trinity Farm team has initiated "Hunt for Good," a local program where skilled hunters provide deer meat for processing and packaging into mince for the Halo Food Bank here in Tokoroa. This initiative, supported by the Halo Charitable Trust, exemplifies how sustainable land management can directly benefit our community by providing nutritious food for those in need while managing deer populations responsibly.

Kamara Kennedy and Tiare Tito

Aroha Luxury New Zealand Tours takes pride in supporting and honouring the Māori culture, recognising its significance and the deep connection it holds to our land and the people of New Zealand. Our company has sponsored Kamara Kennedy and Tiare Tito as part of our commitment to honouring New Zealand's Indigenous culture. Kamara and Tiare have a solid connection to the Māori culture, predominantly centred around Te Puku o te Ika a Māui. Their upbringing has been deeply rooted in Māori traditions, with the Māori language at the forefront of their education from an early age, starting with Kohanga Reo (an Early Childhood equivalent) and continuing through to Kura Kaupapa Māori (a Total Immersion Language School).

Kamara currently works at the Tongariro Correctional Facility, facilitating a Māori-based program. Outside of work, he dedicates his time to wood carving, a traditional Māori art form with deep cultural significance. Tiare, on the other hand, has a degree in Early Childhood and currently teaches at Waihi Kõhanga Reo, contributing to the education and nurturing of young children within a Māori cultural context. Te Rua Māuri, a family-based initiative established in 2016, is another significant endeavour led by Kamara and Tiare. This initiative aims to establish a forum for cultural understanding of Tikanga (Māori belief systems) by bridging past knowledge to the present and preserving its organic essence for future generations. Through Te Rua Māuri, Kamara, Tiare, and their family have participated in various local and international Indigenous festivals, acting as cultural ambassadors and showcasing the beauty and depth of Māori traditions and customs.

Recognising the importance of supporting and nurturing Māori cultural initiatives, Aroha Luxury New Zealand Tours has donated $5,000 in sponsorship to Kamara and Tiare's endeavours. This sponsorship helps facilitate their participation in international events, where they can represent their Māori heritage and culture, fostering cultural exchange, understanding, and appreciation. Our company is committed to promoting and preserving Māori culture, recognising its integral role in New Zealand's identity. By supporting individuals like Kamara and Tiare, who embody and promote Māori traditions, we can contribute to preserving and perpetuating the Māori culture for future generations, both within New Zealand and internationally.

Tokoroa Lions Club Donations

Additionally, as part of our efforts to engage with the local community, we gift two calves annually to the Tokoroa Lions Club in New Zealand, which are then auctioned to raise funds for various community development projects. The Tokoroa Lions Club's purpose is "On a Mission to Serve," which shares our values of strengthening communities and supporting those in need. Through this partnership, we actively contribute to their initiatives, empowering volunteers and partners to positively impact lives globally while fostering peace and international understanding. We are dedicated to continuing this collaboration and making a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and communities in Tokoroa and beyond.

Volunteering to Upskill Students

Aroha Luxury New Zealand Tours believes in the power of education and the importance of supporting young individuals throughout their learning journey. As part of our commitment to community engagement, we actively recruit volunteers to support students in upskilling during their university studies. Through this program, we provide students with opportunities to gain practical experience and develop valuable skills in the tourism industry. Our volunteers are exposed to various aspects of our operations, including customer service, itinerary planning, sustainable tourism practices, and daily procedures. By providing hands-on training and mentorship, we contribute to their personal and professional growth, preparing them for future career opportunities. For example, our company took on a volunteer in 2021 who was in her final year of completing her Bachelor of Tourism Management at AUT. Our company has now hired this volunteer on a full-time basis.
